The Good Samaritan/Poor Department originally was planned to be a General Conference function to meet especially health crises in poorer countries. But there are also needs within the churches of the American Union that can be helped with financial assistance. With natural and economic disasters increasing at a rapid rate, demands can be very great. But God’s promises to keep the supply of means replenished have been proven true by all who have given their time, means, and abilities for the relief of suffering.

Contributors and volunteers are encouraged to contact the Good Samaritan to find out how they can help with cases beyond just helping in crisis. There are projects for helping people help themselves. The leader of the American Union Good Samaritan/Poor Department has the special opportunity to manage the means available to assist in Union as well as General Conference projects.
